Karachi: During the incident of robbery in Gulshan Iqbal, unknown armed suspects shot and killed a citizen who was driving an online taxi.
According to details, a young man was killed in firing near Gilani Masjid and vehicle workshop in Gulshan Iqbal Block 13A of Aziz Bhatti police station, whose body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.
The deceased youth was identified as 28-year-old Ehtsham Owais son of Muhammad Abdullah, a resident of Gulshan Hadid and an online taxi driver.
In this regard, according to SP Gulshan Iqbal Zafar Siddique, the incident of firing occurred during the robbery incident on resistance, while the police is investigating further in this regard.
According to DSP Gulshan Iqbal Sohail Khan and SHO Miraj Akhtar, initially it was learned that the deceased youth had stopped near the mechanic shop and was asking for another mechanic. They started looting, the young man had turned around, thinking that the young man was taking out his weapon, on which the accused opened fire. The youth was hit by a single bullet on the left side near the shoulder which proved fatal.
He said that the police is trying to get the CCTV and the real nature of the incident will be known only after watching the CCTV, however, the police have collected all the evidence and started investigating the incident.
It should be noted that this year, the number of civilians killed for resisting robbery has reached 65, while dozens of civilians have been injured.
