The Supreme Court of Pakistan, while hearing the request of Jamaat-e-Islami, has said that Jamaat-e-Islami’s request under Article 184-3 against the privatization of K Electric is against the economic policy of the government.
A 3-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial heard the petition of Jamaat-e-Islami against the privatization of electricity, Justice Athar Minullah and Justice Ayesha Malik were also included in the bench.
During the hearing, Justice Athar Minullah said to Jamaat-e-Islami’s lawyer Rashid A. Rizvi that if the Parliament is not respected, then will the Parliament fail?
Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial remarked that it is better to withdraw the application and go to the relevant forum.
The court accepted the plea of Jamaat-e-Islami for respite to raise the matter in the relevant forum.
The Chief Justice said to lawyer Rashid A. Rizvi, “Thank you very much.”
Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial also praised Jamaat-e-Islami’s effort to create political consensus on this occasion.
