PMDC meeting, decision to take MD CAT test on August 27


Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to conduct the MD CAT test on August 27. The approval was given in the PMDC meeting on Sunday presided over by PMDC President.

During the meeting, issues related to National Registration Examination, Medical Dental Admission Examination (MDCAT) and other matters (about 20 agenda items) were discussed by the Council.

The council decided to take up the most important agenda related to MDCAT and proposed to hold the examination on 27th August 2023.

The council decided that the MDCAT syllabus will remain the same as the previous year’s exam. The council directed all the provincial secretaries to start preparation for the said examination, this decision was taken keeping in mind the larger interest of the students.

On this occasion, it was informed that last year about 2 lakh 4 thousand 259 students had participated in the examinations. According to estimates, 210,000 students are likely to participate in the exams this year, to make the system more transparent and merit-based, the public sector medical universities will re-conduct ICT exams in all four provinces according to the provincial syllabus.

The council emphasized that all stakeholders will be onboarded before the examinations. Examination Departments of Public Medical Universities will also consider MDCAT Paper Difficulty Index this year for the convenience of students without compromising on merit to ensure confidentiality of examinations. To ensure that all the provinces conduct the examinations without any hassle to the students.

Prof. Dr. Amjad Siraj Memon, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zubair Khan, Jawad Amin Khan, Barrister Chaudhry Sultan Mansoor, Noorul Haq, Dr. Mahmood Aurangzeb, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Asad, Lt. Gen. Mohsin Qureshi, Surgeon General, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Shafi, Secretary, Ministry of Health were present in the meeting. NHRS&C and all Provincial Secretaries and nominees participated.
