Deputy Chief of the US Mission in Pakistan, Andrew Schoffer, visited Karachi, the capital of Sindh, from May 31 to June 3.

TDF was awarded a $250,000 grant from funds from the US Consulate in Karachi to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in schools in disadvantaged areas.

Through this funding, 100 teachers from 50 schools were trained in teaching STEM education and 1200 students from the same schools were given a visit to the Magnify Science Center to increase their interest in STEM education and careers.

A STEAM competition was organized among the schools participating in this training course, in which students from 3 successful schools will be given a golden opportunity to go to America this summer to participate in NASA’s space camp.

DCM Andrew Shofer, while expressing his thoughts at the closing ceremony of the English Works program with the support of the American government in Karachi, highlighted the strong cooperation of the United States in the education sector.

The purpose of the English Works program was to provide students from economically weaker and disadvantaged areas with the opportunity to learn English language and 21st century job skills.

Andrew Schoffer participated in a discussion on labor rights with Sindh Human Rights Commission officials and the Minister of Labor where they discussed the issues of labor rights violations in the agriculture sector, forced labor and child labor in particular. Discussed.
