Germany arrested 7 people yesterday on charges of collecting donations for ISIS in Syria.
According to prosecutors, the group solicited donations using the Telegram messaging service.
The international group included 4 Germans, a Moroccan, a Kosovo and a Turkish national.
Germany’s federal prosecutor says the group is part of an international network that finances Daesh’s terrorist operations in Syria.
The suspects collected $69,000 and sent the money to ISIS in Syria.
The prosecutor says that the funds collected by the arrested suspects were used to financially support Daesh terrorists detained in a campus in northern Syria and were also used to help them break the prison and escape.
The arrests are part of a nationwide crackdown on people donating to ISIS.
More than 1,000 police officers raided more than 90 locations in Germany.
