Karachi: According to the data based on the statistics of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), Pakistan has ranked first in the world in terms of diabetes.
The IDF statistics are published on the website Orworld in Data. These statistics include 100 countries with the highest diabetes rates. In the same report, it has been revealed that by the year 2021, the percentage of people aged 20 to 79 years in the world has been evaluated for diabetes. According to the report, 30 percent of the country’s population is affected by this terrible disease.
While the list of 50 countries does not include both the United States and the United Kingdom. After Pakistan, 25% of the population of French Polynesia and 24% of Kuwait are suffering from diabetes. In this way, the first is Pakistan, the second is French Polynesia and Kuwait.
Explaining the possible reason for this, experts have said that although Pakistani people eat vegetables, pulses, whole grains, yogurt and fruits etc. However, it seems that they are genetically more prone to the disease. But according to scientists, research is needed to know the reason.
The same is the case in Kuwait where a large number of the population is caught in this situation and it has been emphasized more. It is being said that the Pakistani population is genetically sensitive to insulin.
