The resolution has the signatures of 16 members of the Assembly. Which has been confirmed by assembly sources. The support of 17 members is required for the success of the no-confidence motion in the 33-member assembly.
According to the claim of the PTI like-minded group, 2 PTI candidates emerged for the post of Speaker at the time of the formation of the Tehreek-e-Insaaf government after the 2020 elections in GB.
For this reason, in the presence of the party’s provincial leaders, it was decided that Syed Amjad Zaidi will hold the post of Speaker for a period of two and a half years from the date of taking the oath from November 25, 2020 to May 25, 2023, while the incumbent will hold the post for the remaining two and a half years. Deputy Speaker Nazir Ahmed will take over as Advocate Speaker.
According to the like-minded group, due to Amjad Ali Zaidi’s refusal to vacate the post despite the completion of the term, it has now been decided to remove the speaker through a no-confidence motion in consultation with the PTI parliamentary party.
The like-minded group says that opposition members will also be contacted to remove the speaker.
