Japan’s government has said that North Korea plans to launch a satellite in the coming weeks.
According to foreign media, an official of the Japanese Coast Guard said that North Korea has informed Japan about the launch of a satellite between May 31 and June 11, which may be a ballistic missile.
Japanese officials say the North Korean launch will involve a ballistic missile, while Pyongyang calls it a satellite.
A Coast Guard spokesman told foreign media that Pyongyang had informed Japan’s Coast Guard that a rocket would be launched between May 31 and June 11 and that it could potentially cause damage in the maritime domain.
On the other hand, the Japanese Prime Minister has urged North Korea to refrain from launching, otherwise it will take action together with its allies America and South Korea.
It should be noted that North Korea announced the completion of work on its first spy satellite in April. Such a launch would use long-range missile technology banned under UN Security Council resolutions.
