Two Pakistanis who did security guard duty in the FIFA World Cup are still in jail

London: Three people, including two Pakistanis who performed the duty of security guards in the FIFA World Cup, are still in jail in Qatar, seeking compensation.

According to the report of the British newspaper “The Guardian”, two Pakistanis, Shakirullah and Zafraqbal, were hired by the firm “Stark Security Services”, which was responsible for providing security to the football World Cup in Qatar, like several thousand other people.

The security company had signed a 6-month contract with these people, but after the World Cup ended in December 2022, the contract of all the security guards was suddenly terminated with three months left to complete the contract.

According to the report, all the security guards were asked by the company to collect their final (weekly) pay and vacate the accommodation, and if they refused, they would be jailed and deported.

However, Shakirullah, Zafraqbal and an Indian man refused to vacate the residence without compensation, as a result of which they are still in jail in Qatar and have also been fined 10,000 Qatari Riyals.

Equidem, a human rights group, revealed the three men who were security guards at the World Cup.

The director of the human rights group, Mustafa Qadri, told the British newspaper that this is FIFA’s worst violation of the human rights of those who helped it make huge profits.

According to the British newspaper, Stark Security Services had contracted to pay all the men 2,700 Qatari riyals per week, food and accommodation. The duration of the contract was 6 months.

According to Qatari laws, a month’s notice is required if the contract is to be terminated before the end of the term, but all the security guards were told their jobs were terminated the day after the World Cup final.

Later, the security guards also protested outside the company’s headquarters, but the police blocked them and arrested them all and within a week they were deported without paying the remaining three months, however, three security guards, including two Pakistanis, are still in jail. I am imprisoned.
