Karachi: Usman Khan, the fastest century scorer in the history of Pakistan Super League (PSL), wants to be part of the United Arab Emirates national team and play against Pakistan.
The 28-year-old opening batsman is a native of Pakistan but has been living in the United Arab Emirates for two and a half years. Usman Khan grabbed attention by scoring a 36-ball century against Quetta Gladiators while playing for Multan Sultans.
After Usman Khan’s brilliant innings, comments were made that he could be included in the Pakistani cricket team, but Usman Khan says that his dream is to represent the UAE.
Speaking to The National, Usman Khan said, “My dream is not to play for Pakistan but for the UAE, and I am working hard to make that dream a reality.” I want to represent the UAE and showcase my talent against Pakistan, and I am waiting for the time to do so.”
Usman Khan’s inclusion in the UAE national team is subject to a three-year residency requirement before representing an ICC country. Usman Khan, who plays PSL and Bangladesh Premier League, will fulfill this condition later this year.
Regarding representing a country other than Pakistan, Usman Khan said that I was not being given a chance to play while I was in Pakistan. I realized that I was being neglected there, so I set my sights on playing for the UAE and moved here.
Usman Khan said that I have worked hard to improve my skills here and am doing so that I can get a chance to join the UAE national team.
