San Francisco: The public data protection agency in the European Union has imposed a fine of 1.3 billion dollars on Meta, the main company of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, which is equivalent to three and a half trillion Pakistani rupees.

According to the European Data Protection Board (EDPU), since 2020 Meta has been transferring data of European users to the US. Neither permission has been taken for this nor any safety measures have been specified.

As such, it is also the largest fine a company will ever pay in the history of the Internet. In this context, European countries are sensitive and vigilant and have been taking strict measures against data disclosure of their customers and institutions. These include the top GDPR laws.

Interestingly, Metta is looking to expand its reach in Europe. It aspires to work under European regulations, but its performance is still not up to EDPU standards. This is why not only the data has been called for further measures with fines and non-compliance can lead to a Europe-wide ban.

On the other hand, Metta has said that she will definitely appeal against this decision.
