Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandyal constituted a larger bench on the petitions against the Audio Leaks Commission.
A 5-member larger bench headed by the Chief Justice will hear the petitions against the Audio Leak Commission tomorrow.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Shahid Waheed and Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi are part of the bench.
It should be noted that the government of Pakistan formed a 3-member judicial commission headed by Justice Qazi Faiz Isa to investigate the audio leaks.
Petitions against the judicial commission formed to investigate the audio leaks were submitted to the Supreme Court, while the judicial commission was also challenged by Imran Khan.
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan filed a petition in the Supreme Court through lawyer Babar Awan, in which the Ministry of Law and Justice and the Ministry of Interior were made parties.
It was argued in the petition that judicial commission cannot be formed without the permission of the Chief Justice and no judge can be nominated for it.
The petition also said that the only forum for investigation or action against a judge of the Supreme Court is the Supreme Judicial Council.
