Lahore: Flour worth crores of rupees distributed free under the scheme went missing, on which the district administration and revenue officers and employees joined hands.
According to the sources, the search for more than 100 flour trucks is going on in Lahore division under the free flour scheme. The missing flour is estimated to be worth around Rs 13 crore. Where did 84 trucks of flour go missing in Tehsil City, the administration has no idea while bags of 18 trucks are missing in other 4 Tehsils.
A clear difference in the bags of flour given by looking at the identity cards revealed the disappearance of flour. A clear difference in flour distribution is observed in the data entries. The flour was released from the flour mills, the patwaris confirmed, but where it disappeared after that is still unknown. Taking immediate action on the matter, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider constituted an investigation committee comprising Additional Commissioner General Zeeshan Ranjha and Additional Commissioner Revenue.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the situation will become clear after the investigation of the matter. Strict action will be taken if anyone is involved in the disappearance of the flour of the free scheme.
A total of 18 lakh free flour bags are missing in Punjab. Apart from Lahore, complaints have been received about the disappearance of free flour bags distributed in Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib. More than 2 lakh bags of flour are being searched in Kasur district alone. Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa has called for records of flour from all DCOs.
