The European Union has imposed new sanctions on Iran against the government crackdown.
According to the news agency from Brussels, the new sanctions were imposed on Iranian officials and institutions in response to the violent crackdown. The sanctions include 5 individuals and 2 entities of Iran.
The news agency says that there were protests in Iran last year over the death of a girl in custody on the issue of hijab.
