San Salvador: Twelve people were killed and 90 injured in a stampede before a football match between Alianza and Foz at a stadium in the Central American country of El Salvador.

According to the World News Agency, the match between the teams of Alianza and Foz was to be played in the local tournament at the Cuscatalan football stadium in the capital of El Salvador, which was packed to see the stadium.

Although the stadium was full, thousands of fans were outside, most of them with tickets, but when the main gate was closed, the ticket holders protested and tried to force their way into the stadium.

Amid the crowd of fans and security personnel, the main gate was broken open and more than capacity fans entered the stadium. During this panic and chaos, 12 people died due to being trampled and suffocated.
