Iran executed 3 people involved in anti-government protests

Tehran: Last year, Iran executed 3 people on charges of deadly violence against security personnel during anti-government protests.

The execution of Majid Kazmi, Saleh Mirhashmi and Saeed Yaghobi was announced on the Judiciary website “Meezan”. The statement did not provide details on how the execution was carried out.

The men killed a police officer and two members of the paramilitary Basij group in Isfahan, Iran’s third-largest city, during nationwide protests in November 2022, officials said.

The Supreme Court said that no credible reason was presented to accept the appeal cases against the convictions as the accused were aiming to “overthrow the Iranian establishment” and were also involved in arson during the “riots”.
