Jeddah: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealed to the Arab League to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people against Russia, while Saudi Arabia has reiterated its efforts to mediate the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The Ukrainian president arrived in the capital of Saudi Arabia to attend the 32nd session of the Arab League, where he was received by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He arrived in Saudi Arabia from Poland in a French official plane.
In his address to the Arab League meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that some countries, including some members of the Arab League, have forcibly separated parts of the territory of Ukraine and illegally imprisoned Ukrainians during the 15-month war. are blindsided by Russian actions.
The Ukrainian president added in his address that we will not recognize the hegemony of any other country and will not become a colony of anyone. Our goal is to protect the Ukrainian people. Ukraine has not chosen war and has not engaged in any form of aggression on the territory of other countries.
He added that what is happening in our country is not just a conflict but a war, and we are forced to continue fighting this war.
“I believe we can all unite to save Ukrainian citizens from Russian prisons,” the Ukrainian president said.
After arriving on Saudi soil earlier, Vladimir Zelensky said in his tweet that this is my first visit to Saudi Arabia to promote bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia and to strengthen Ukraine’s relationship with the Arab world. The role of Saudi Arabia is very important. and we are ready to take the cooperation to new heights.
Earlier, in his opening speech at the Arab League meeting, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated his commitment to continue mediation efforts in the Russia-Ukraine war, saying that we are determined to continue mediation efforts in this war and resolve this crisis.
