According to Indian media, DGP G P Singh of Assam has said that this initiative has been taken under the instructions of the Chief Minister.
According to Indian media, last month the Chief Minister of Assam announced that there is a compulsory retirement and voluntary retirement scheme for those in the police force who have a habit of drinking alcohol, are prone to obesity and those who have corruption cases against them.
He had said that 300 police officers and personnel in Assam are suffering from the habit of drinking alcohol and due to its excess, their various organs have also been damaged.
