Islamabad: On Monday, the Supreme Court will hear a review petition on the order to hold elections on May 14 in Punjab.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandyal will hold the hearing at 12:30 p.m. Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Muneeb Akhtar are also included in the bench.
The Election Commission has filed a review of the April 4 order of the Supreme Court, in which it has been held that according to the constitution and law, the Supreme Court cannot order the date of the elections, the court has exceeded its authority by giving the date.
Meanwhile, despite the clear order of the Supreme Court, elections could not be held in Punjab on May 14. On April 4, the Supreme Court had ordered to hold elections in Punjab on May 14.
