Lahore: Due to the poor policies and lack of interest of the present government, 80% of the brick kilns across the country have closed down.

In this regard, the delegation of Pakistan Kiln Owners Association met former Prime Minister Imran Khan and informed about the problems faced by the kiln industry. He said that the construction sector in the country is currently in decline. Construction sectors have suffered due to inflation and unemployment. Brick kilns, which form the backbone of the construction sector, are closing down at a rapid pace.

Maher Abdul Haq, Secretary General of Kiln Owners Association said that due to political and economic instability in the country, the construction sector has been affected due to which kilns are also closing down. He said that there are 11,000 brick kilns in Punjab, out of which 8,000 have been closed, while the remaining 3,000 are finding it difficult to bear the expenses.

Kiln owner Rana Subhan from Lahore says that people are buying gold and dollars at the moment due to which the construction work has stopped. Business cannot be done, kiln owners have to bear loss of lakhs of rupees, despite promises, the government has not given any relief nor has loan facility been given from banks.

A 20-member delegation of Pakistan Kiln Owners Association, headed by Shoaib Khan Niazi, the head of the association, has also met former Prime Minister Imran Khan at his residence in Zaman Park, Lahore. The delegation inquired about the well-being of Imran Khan and while expressing solidarity with him, also informed about the problems and difficulties faced by the kiln industry.

The delegation included Association Secretary General Maher Abdul Haq, President of Balochistan Namatullah Kha Sindh President Aminullah Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Khair Muhammad Samit Rana Muhammad Subhan, Azhar Khan Multan, Sajjad Shahi, Malik Attaullah Ganjyal, Mian Akram and others.

Shoaib Khan Niazi said that during the Tehreek-e-Insaf government, the construction sector got a boost, which also improved the kiln industry, by spending millions of rupees, the kilns were shifted to the zig-zag method, but now this sector has become stagnant.

Imran Khan assured the delegation that Tehreek-e-Insaf will come back to power and the kiln industry, construction sector will get promotion and development.
