Ouagadougou: In the African country of Burkina Faso, 33 civilians were killed and many injured in an attack by motorcycle-riding armed men.
According to the World News Agency, gunmen stormed a village in Burkina Faso, set fire to several houses and properties, and shot at the villagers who tried to flee for their lives.
At least 33 people were killed in the attack, while around 100 were injured and shifted to a nearby hospital. Among the dead and injured are women and children. The attackers also took away valuables while leaving.
The troubled African country of Burkina Faso has experienced two military coups in the past year, and the current interim government president, Captain Ibrahim Turor, has decided to retake 40 percent of the country’s territory controlled by al-Qaeda and ISIS.
More than 10,000 people have been killed and 2 million people have been displaced in the anarchy that started last year. Since 2015, Burkina Faso has also been facing operations by extremist organizations.
