IMF agreement or not Pakistan will not default, Finance Minister

Islamabad: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan will not default with or without IMF agreement.

Commenting on Pakistan’s possible default by the International Credit Rating Agency, the Federal Finance Minister said that if the IMF staff wants more time for the agreement, then take more time. which will be arranged.

Ishaq Dar said that the international organizations should not talk about the default regarding Pakistan, the financing commitments made by the friendly countries which will be fulfilled soon. He further said that Pakistan has taken steps for the agreement and has fulfilled all the conditions of the IMF.

He expressed these views while addressing a session on Pakistan’s economic challenges under the Islamabad Security Dialogue organized under the auspices of National Security Division and Islamabad Policy Research Institute.

He said that the payments will be arranged during May and June while we have also arranged the payments till December. Ishaq Dar said that the international organizations should not talk about the default regarding Pakistan, the financing commitments made by the friendly countries which will be fulfilled soon.

The Finance Minister said that the government has taken difficult economic decisions at the cost of its political assets because for us the state is more important than politics. The government is introducing reforms in various sectors to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable economy. Along with this, our focus is on increasing regional connectivity, discouraging imports and increasing exports.

He said that economic security is an important part of national security and comprehensive measures have been taken to ensure economic security. He further said that Pakistan will not go bankrupt, the government has ensured all external payments till December. Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the region will improve due to the deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Embassies will be reopened by both countries in Tehran and Riyadh. Peace and order, prosperity, investment and partnership are necessary for economic development in the region because economic security is an important component of national security.

Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan is among the countries severely affected by climate change, there is a fear of reduction in food needs due to climate change. He said that the government got an unstable economy due to current account deficit and financial deficit, when When the government came to power this year, the trade deficit had exceeded 39 billion dollars, the foreign exchange reserves had decreased and the current account deficit had reached 17 billion dollars.
