New York: The US has issued a response to the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In response to a question during the daily news conference, the press secretary of the White House, Karen Jean-Pierre, said that the United States wants democratic principles and the rule of law in Pakistan.
He said that ‘We are aware of Imran Khan’s arrest and have already explained that America does not support any political party or candidate but demands democratic principles and rule of law worldwide.
He further said that the government of Pakistan will be approached for information regarding the situation after the arrest of Imran Khan.
In response to a question in a joint press conference with his British counterpart, US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken said that the US is willing to establish the rule of law in all countries of South Asia.
He said that the US is monitoring the situation in Pakistan and wants to ensure that steps are taken in accordance with the rule of law and the constitution in Pakistan. raise their issues while the government also takes steps according to the law instead of using force against the protestors.
