Hong Kong: In a virtual or computer environment it has always been impossible to convey the smell or scent of an object displayed on a screen. Now a company claims to have created a nose strap for a virtual reality headset that can remove the smell of a visible object to make it seem more real.
According to this report published in Nature Communications, this is the first wearable of its kind that is very small. It can be placed under the nose. On which a soft mask is placed. One model can create two types of fragrance and another model can create 9 types of fragrance or any smell.
The essence of both of them is a scented wax that emits different scents at different temperatures. The invention was made by experts from City University Hong Kong and Bai Hong University.
This patch can create 30 types of smells or scents by combining different scents, including some floral, pineapple, ginger and pancake scents. While Oculus and other types of headsets can provide sound, scenery, simulation and sense of touch, the sense of smell has not been included until now. This is the reason why it is considered as an important invention.
But experts insist that it is not just a show-off invention, but can be used for aromatherapy, teaching children, buying and selling fragrances and other important tasks.
