Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) raised the issue of non-supply of gas in Sindh including Karachi.
According to Express News, a meeting of the Standing Committee on Petroleum was held under the chairmanship of Senator Abdul Qadir, in which the SSGC officials said that due to the installation of large compressors by the industries, domestic consumers in Sindh are facing a decrease in gas pressure. .
Sui Southern officials while giving a briefing on the situation of gas shortage in Sindh said that when the company faced a shortage of gas, the factories were also not getting gas due to which they used compressors.
He said that when it came to know about the use of compressors in 278 companies in Sindh, they cut the connections by taking immediate action. In January 2022, there were 179 illegal boosters, while in February, this number decreased to 99.
SSGC officials said that Sui Southern faces a shortfall of more than 300 mmcfd in winter. In January last year, 278 Capto Power installed large compressors in Karachi, resulting in about 304 mmcfd. CFD gas pressure decreased.
