Islamabad: (Dunya News) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that measures are being taken on an emergency basis to convert agricultural tube wells to solar energy. .
Under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, a review meeting was held regarding the implementation of Kisan Package and solarization of agricultural tubewells across the country, in which Shahbaz Sharif said that the government should take emergency measures for the early transition of agricultural tubewells to solar energy. However, reducing dependence on diesel and imported fuel will save valuable foreign exchange.
Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the suggestions of Energy Minister, Secretary and his team and said that the implementation of the Kisan Package is the first priority of the government, the government is taking steps for the development of agriculture and the prosperity of farmers, all the organizations of farmers on the Kisan Package. should be made part of the consultation.
The Prime Minister directed the authorities to ensure consultation and cooperation with the provinces for the implementation of the Kisan Package, to formulate a strategy in consultation with the committee of experts to further increase the production of edible oil. Steps to introduce climate resilient seeds should be finalized soon.
The meeting was briefed by the Power Division that plans to convert agricultural tube wells to solar are in final stages, the move will save the country $3.61 billion annually on diesel and imported fuel.
During the briefing, officials said that loans worth 816.5 billion rupees have been provided to small farmers, edible oil seeds were cultivated on 632,000 hectares this year, contacts with international companies to introduce climate resilient seeds.
