Negotiations between Pakistan and the IMF are ongoing at the technical level, the issue of prevention of corruption and effective accountability in Pakistan is under consideration.
According to the sources, the IMF has demanded to fulfill the promise regarding the establishment of the task force, the deadline of January 2023 was given for the establishment of the task force.
The purpose of the task force is to revise the framework of anti-corruption departments including NAB.
The IMF is pushing to make these institutions more effective in investigating corruption cases.
The IMF has also demanded declaration of assets of officers of grade 17 and above and their families.
Guidelines for access to assets by law enforcement agencies will be issued at the request of the IMF.
In this regard, State Bank, Establishment Division and FBR will work together.
