Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang has met Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir at Army House Rawalpindi.
According to the statement of the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), issues of mutual interest including regional security and defense cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
Army Chief General Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the China-Pakistan strategic relationship, and also expressed China’s full support for the CPEC project.
During the meeting, Army Chief General Asim Munir said that CPEC is an important component of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir appreciated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan on regional and international issues.
In the meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang highlighted the importance of Pakistan-China long-standing strategic relations, expressed satisfaction over the progress made on CPEC, reiterated China’s commitment to timely completion of CPEC and regional peace and stability. Appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to maintain stability.
The emerging security situation in the region was also discussed in the meeting.
Army Chief General Asim Munir acknowledged China’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
Pakistan and China agreed to enhance defense and security cooperation on common security challenges.
