Government does not want to do anything for Aafia Siddiqui's release: Islamabad High Court

Islamabad: (Dunya News) The Islamabad High Court has said that the government does not want to do anything for the release of Aafia Siddiqui, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should facilitate Fauzia Siddiqui on the legal front.

In the Islamabad High Court, a hearing was held on the petition filed by Dr. Aafia Siddiqui for release from America, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard the petition, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui appeared before the court along with her lawyer.

The Additional Attorney General submitted a position in the court that the issue of Aafia Siddiqui’s release has been raised at the diplomatic level.

Fauzia Siddiqui’s lawyer submitted that it seems the government is helpless in this matter, has hired another lawyer in America for Aafia Siddiqui.

The court directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate Fauzia Siddiqui on the legal front and ordered the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold a meeting with Fauzia Siddiqui next week.

The Additional Attorney General assured the court that Aafia Siddiqui is our citizen who will help the government as much as possible.

The Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing on the petition filed for the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui from the US till March 17.
