Karachi: The first case of monkeypox was confirmed in Shahr Quaid.

According to Provincial Health Department Spokesperson Maher Khursheed, yesterday a citizen came to Karachi from Muscat, Oman who had fever for seven days and red marks on his body for five days. His samples were sent to Islamabad and the report came positive today.

He said that the patient is a driver in Jeddah who reached Karachi via Oman and was quarantined yesterday, now the patient will remain in quarantine until he is healthy.

The spokesperson of the Health Department Mehr Khurshid says that after the first case of monkey pox was reported in Islamabad on April 25, the health department had prepared to deal with monkey pox and established separate wards for men and women in major hospitals. were

Maher Khurshid says that the Health Department has also formed a monkeypox surveillance group which is monitoring the situation at the airport, railway station and port. The health department is sending precautionary messages in schools, colleges, universities, mosques and commercial areas to make people aware.
