Iran seized an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
The US Navy says that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards seized a Panamanian-flagged oil tanker in the middle of the Strait of Hormuz.
It should be noted that this is the second incident of Iran seizing an oil tanker within a week.
According to the US Navy, the oil tanker Niovi was en route from Dubai to Fujairah when it was seized by Iranian guards in the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. Navy says Iran has harassed or attacked 15 merchant ships in the past two years, Iranian actions that violate international law and disrupt regional security and stability.
The US Navy further says that Iran’s continued harassment of ships and interference with maritime rights in territorial waters is unnecessary, irresponsible and a threat to maritime security and the global economy.
