The Civil Aviation Authority has started implementing a major initiative to protect aircraft from bird strikes at Pakistan’s airports.
CAA is installing bird repellent systems at all international airports across the country to protect aircraft from birds.
According to sources, the CAA has issued an international tender for the installation of the Bird Repellent System, for which the last date for submission of offers is May 3.
The interested companies have been directed by the CAA to submit a security of Rs 5.29 lakh along with the tender request.
Under the tender, bird repellent systems will be installed at the airports of Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore.
Dozens of incidents of bird collisions with airplanes are reported at Pakistan’s airports every year.
Bird collisions with planes not only cause a major accident but also cost the airlines millions of rupees annually.
