Ex-Indian officers jailed for spying for Israel in Qatar

India has once again faced defeat at the global level. Eight ex-Indian Navy personnel arrested in Qatar have been jailed in espionage cases.

According to media reports, eight Indian nationals have been imprisoned in Qatar for months for spying on Israel’s submarine program and may face the death penalty.

Indian news agency ThePrint reported that New Delhi had obtained consular access to the eight prisoners and tried to secure their release, but Doha said the evidence showed that Former officers provided classified information to Israel.

The first trial of Indian nationals was held at the end of March and another session is reportedly expected to be held this month.

Eight former Indian Navy personnel were employed by a defense company in Qatar. The eight men were working for a company called Dehra Global Technologies and Consultancy Services, which was described as a “local business partner” for Qatar’s defense and other agencies.

He was arrested again in August 2022, although no official charges were filed at the time, but he was accused of spying for Israel.
