2 cases of monkeypox confirmed in Pakistan

Islamabad: The first two cases of monkeypox were reported in Pakistan.

According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, two cases of monkeypox have been reported in Pakistan so far. Yesterday, the National Institute of Health Islamabad confirmed monkeypox in a passenger from Saudi Arabia.

According to the spokesman, the passenger who was sitting with the affected person in the same plane also showed symptoms. After conducting the test, the National Health Institute has confirmed monkeypox in the other passenger as well. Both patients are residents of Rawalpindi, Islamabad.

The Ministry of Health says that the first patient is admitted to the isolation ward of Pims Hospital, while the second patient is in isolation at home. Following the emergence of cases of monkeypox, the recommendations of health regulations are being implemented at the country’s airports.

Pims spokesperson says that the monkey pox patient is admitted to Pims Hospital, whose treatment is ongoing and his condition is still good.

According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Health, the Border and Health Services of Pakistan is monitoring the entire situation, the Ministry of Health has directed all the necessary measures at the airports, to protect the public from diseases and epidemics. Actions are ensured.

According to the report, the monkeypox disease is spread by touching an infected person, animal or material containing monkeypox germs. The virus can enter the body through cut skin, respiratory tract, eyes, nose and ears. It can also be transmitted from one infected person to another.

Health experts say that itching starts during the first to third day of fever and usually the itching that starts on the face spreads over the body. It can last two to four weeks.

Last year, cases of monkey pox were reported in different countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Portugal and Spain. The symptoms of monkey pox include skin rash, fever, and headache.
