Torkham landslide, death toll reaches 8

Khyber: Deputy Commissioner Khyber has said that one more body was removed from the debris of the landslide on the Torkham border, after which the death toll reached 8.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Nasir Khan said that the volunteers of Pakistan Army and other welfare organizations are continuously engaged in rescue operations since the accident.

He said that the number of bodies coming out of the wreckage has reached 8, the dead were from Afghanistan.

According to Abdul Nasir Khan, 8 injured people were rescued from the landslide debris on the first day, while 25 containers were removed during the last four days.

He further said that four days ago, a landslide had fallen on the Torkham Export Road, under which many containers and cargo vehicles were buried.
