Lahore: Chairman PCB Management Committee Najam Sethi says that we are being advised to play the Asia Cup at a neutral venue.
During a press conference, Najam Sethi said that Pakistan has proposed that India play its Asia Cup matches at a neutral venue, while the Pakistani team will play with other teams in Pakistan itself. Najam Sethi said that the proposal has been sent to the Asian Cricket Council.
It should be noted that the Indian Cricket Board has refused to send the team to Pakistan due to political tension and has requested to shift the tournament to a neutral venue.
Chairman PCB Management Committee while holding a press conference added that we have decided to play the Asia Cup under this hybrid model that Pakistan will play its matches at home grounds while India will play its matches at neutral venues. We have forwarded this recommendation to the Cricket Council.
Najam Sethi expressed hope that the visit of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to India to participate in Operation Organization in Shanghai next month will improve bilateral relations between the two countries.
“We have been told that the ice on the relationship may continue to thaw, and if that happens, India will consider playing in the 2025 Hanoi Champions Trophy in Pakistan,” he added. So we are being asked to play the Asia Cup at a neutral venue and also go to India to play the World Cup.
Najam Sethi said that Pakistani people want cricket matches with India to be played on the basis of equality.
Chairman PCB Management Committee said that the government has not imposed any restrictions regarding playing against India, but the public sentiment at the moment is that we are not in need, we can stand on our feet financially and India Want to play cricket with honor and dignity.
Najam Sethi further said that we are also negotiating with the Asian Cricket Council in this regard.
