The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) failed to achieve the tax collection target in the first 7 months of the current financial year.
According to the sources, FBR has collected 214 billion rupees less tax than the target in the first 7 months of this financial year.
According to the sources, the target of tax collection in the first 7 months of the current financial year was 4 thousand 179 billion rupees.
The FBR collected revenues of Rs 537 billion in January, which was 23 percent more than the target, which was Rs 533 billion this month.
FBR collected Rs 3,965 billion in revenue in the first 7 months as compared to Rs 3,367 billion collected in the same period of last financial year.
According to FBR, direct taxes collected 48% more than last year.
FBR has issued tax refunds worth Rs 208 billion in the first 7 months of this financial year, while tax refunds worth Rs 183 billion were issued in the same period last year.
According to FBR, the tax collection target of Rs 7,470 billion will be achieved by the end of this financial year.
