Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Damascus on an official visit on Tuesday.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad welcomed the Saudi prince upon his arrival in Syria. On this occasion, he discussed bilateral issues in a meeting with the Syrian President.
According to the Saudi media from Riyadh, this is the first visit of the Saudi foreign minister to Syria since the start of the civil war in 2011.
The Saudi media further says that political activities for Syria’s return to the Arab League have accelerated.
On the other hand, the Syrian media say that bilateral issues have been discussed in the meeting of the Saudi Foreign Minister with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
It should be noted that last week Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Maqdad visited Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabia and Syria agreed to restore relations last month. Relations were severed.
