LRussian authorities are using the facial recognition system used in the capital Moscow to enforce the national military service law.
According to Russia’s state news agency, President Vladimir Putin signed a law last week that would tighten the crackdown on those who avoid mandatory military service.
Under the new law, call letters for compulsory military service will be delivered to citizens through electronic means, previously call letters were sent by military officers.
Maxim Loktev, Moscow’s recruitment chief, said the city’s video surveillance system was being used to identify those eligible for mandatory military service.
It should be noted that in Russia, male citizens between the ages of 18 and 27 are required to serve in the army for a certain period of time.
