The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction of 10 rupees 80 paise per unit in the December 2022 Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for consumers in Karachi.
The detailed decision of which will be issued later. The reduction will be passed on to consumers through February 2023 bills.
Nepra approves the FCA after public hearing and examination of the application and also determines the period within which the fuel charges adjustment is to be passed on to the consumers.
FCA depends on changes in global fuel prices. It is passed on to consumers through bills as per the rules and regulations set by Nepra and Government of Pakistan.
The fuel charges adjustment for December 2022 is negative due to lower fuel prices in the month of December 2022 as compared to September 2022.
This is mainly due to 17%, 15% and 29% reduction in price of electricity purchased from RLNG, Furnace Oil and Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPAG) respectively.
