Tehran: The Iranian government has invited King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia for a visit in view of further improvement in relations.
Iranian news agency Tasnim reported with reference to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Iran has officially invited King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia to visit the country.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nasir Kanani told the news conference that the Iranian President (Ibrahim Raisi) sent an invitation letter to the Saudi King, in return he has been invited by Riyadh.
He also said that the diplomatic missions of both the countries will start their activities by May 9.
It should be noted that the two regional rivals agreed to end years of rivalry following a Chinese-brokered deal in March. Although Iran and Saudi Arabia have been supporting opposing sides in Yemen and Syria, the two countries have agreed to end seven years of strained relations and are set to formally reestablish their diplomatic missions.
