Allahu Akbar will be heard five times from loudspeakers in Minneapolis, which is one of America’s largest metropolitan cities.
Minneapolis has become the first major US city to allow mosques to publicly broadcast the call to prayer five times a day, according to international media reports.
The Minneapolis City Council unanimously approved a resolution making changes to the city’s noise ordinance that will allow Muslims to call out five calls to prayer over loudspeakers.
Earlier it was prohibited to give public call to prayer in morning and evening at certain times.

Jilani Hussain, director of the Minnesota branch of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), said in a statement after the vote that this is a historic victory for religious freedom and pluralism for our entire nation. They have set a great example and we urge other cities to follow suit.
