Riyadh: Since the historic move by other Arab countries, including the UAE and Bahrain, to restore diplomatic relations with Israel, the Gulf Arab countries are now trying to resolve other unresolved issues in the region. An end to wars is being declared and severed diplomatic relations are being restored.
According to the World News Agency, work is going on rapidly between Saudi Arabia and Iran on the plan to restore the diplomatic relations severed since 2016 and to open each other’s closed embassies.
In this regard, the Iranian delegation reached Saudi Arabia and reviewed the measures to open its embassy. It is hoped that both countries will activate their respective embassies within a month.
On the other hand, the relations between Saudi Arabia and Syria, which were severed since 2011, have started to be restored again. The first link is the arrival of Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Maqdad in Jeddah and a meeting with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan.
This is the first visit of an important Syrian official to Saudi Arabia in more than 12 years. In the meeting, it was agreed to resume consular services and flights.
Apart from this, the inclusion of Syria in the Arab League and the method of humanitarian aid program in the war and earthquake country were also considered.
A meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council has been called for tomorrow, Friday, for Syria’s return to the Arab League.
On the other hand, Bahrain and Qatar decided to restore diplomatic relations under the provisions of the United Nations Charter and the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
This decision was taken during the second meeting of the “Bahrain-Qatar Follow-up Committee” held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council. In which the high officials of both the countries participated.
It should be remembered that since 2014, the war between the Saudi coalition forces and the rebels has been going on in Yemen, but after agreeing on the restoration of diplomatic relations with Iran, Saudi Arabia expressed its commitment to a ceasefire in Yemen, on which Iran has also given a positive signal.
