In a picture shared on social media in Pakistan, an article from a Dutch textbook on the alleged corruption of former President Asif Ali Zardari is being shown.
On April 5, a user on Twitter shared a photo of a textbook article that said former Pakistani president Mr. Ten Percent Arrested for Corruption and under the headline was a photo of former Pakistani president Zardari.
While sharing this picture on Twitter, the user wrote that ‘In the Netherlands, school children are being taught the subject of Asif Zardari’s corruption. What a shameful moment for Mr Ten Percent to be included in the Dutch books as a lesson in corruption’.
After this picture surfaced on social media, users were eager to know its truth.
The Netherlands’ Ministry of Education, Culture and Science later confirmed to GeoFactCheck that the image circulating online was indeed from the textbook of a 4-year secondary vocational education program in the country.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Education said the chapter is from an old school textbook for 16-year-old students enrolled in a four-year program. A news item was published in the textbook for a class discussion on the former Pakistani president.
