London: A disturbing study has come out that shows that even just three years of living in polluted air increases the risk of lung cancer.

Research on a total of 33,000 people has shown that the abundance of fine particles of pollution in the air can cause genetic changes by being absorbed into lung cells and tissues (tissues) in a short period of only three years, and this results in cancer. Can also be exported. Even healthy lungs become cancerous in the short term.

Charles Swinton of the Francis Crick Institute in the UK and his colleagues have said that cells are healthy under normal conditions, but many types of pollutants can cause them to become cancerous and lead to genetic changes.

Studies of thousands of people have shown that air pollution particles increase the risk of epidermal growth factor (EGFR). Even non-smokers can get cancer.

According to a conservative estimate, particles of 2.5 micrometers in size in pollution can cause cancer in particular. But the effects of the same particles on heart diseases and lung cancer have also been revealed and are certain.

This has also been confirmed in mice, meaning they were exposed to particles as small as 2.5 micrometers, and the risk of lung cancer increased in them as well.

On the other hand, in a long-term study of 32,957 people from the UK, South Korea and Taiwan, those exposed to 2.5 micrometer particles had changes in EGFR that later led to cancer. This was then compared with data from a further 407,509 individuals whose data was taken from the UK Biobank.

Experts have come to the conclusion that 2.5 micrometer particles present in polluted air can cause cancer by genetic modification which has been proven in thousands of people.
