New Delhi: The Indian Air Force Group Captain fell victim to his own leadership error. The report of the court-martial caused a stir.
Pakistan’s claim of shooting down Mi-17 helicopter during Pakistan’s operation ‘Soft Retort’ has been proved true. The truth has emerged from the court martial report of Indian Air Force Group Captain Suman Rai Chaudhry.
In February 2019, Pakistan Air Force shot down an Indian fighter jet in a spectacular display of capabilities. During the operation ‘Soft Retort’, Pakistan’s intelligence agencies exposed the Indian mistake and said that India had shot down its own helicopter. India rejected it as a fabrication and a lie.
Reports of the incident surfaced that Indian Air Force Group Captain Suman Roy Chaudhry and Wing Commander Shyam Nithani had shot down their own helicopter in “panic” during the retaliatory action by the Pakistan Air Force.
Group Captain Suman Roy Chaudhary was sentenced to “court martial” and Wing Commander Shyam Nithani was sentenced to severe reprimand by the Indian Air Force. As a result of the downing of the helicopter, 7 people including 6 personnel of the Indian Air Force were killed
Group Captain Suman Rai Chaudhry was court martialed for disobeying orders and shooting down his own helicopter. The Indian Air Force suffered a loss of 133.3 crores due to orders given in the midst of panic and anxiety.
The conviction of Group Captain Suman Roy Chaudhry and Wing Commander Shyam Nathani vindicated Pakistan’s claim. The latest scandals have tarnished the reputation and honor of Indian forces. Wing Commander Abhinandan was also awarded the Veer Chakra to cover up the loss of Operation Soft Retort.
The Indian public is questioning whether the scandal-ridden Indian Army deserves to be called a professional army that has been constantly throwing dust in the eye.
