Karachi: Inter Board's decision on e-marking of examination papers

Karachi: Board of Higher Secondary Education has started preparations to adopt e-marking for examinations, manual copy checking process will be phased out.

Inter Board Chairman Dr Saeeduddin has told Express in an exclusive interview that teachers will be able to check the papers anytime anywhere, the entire answer sheet will not be checked by a single teacher, the scanned copies of the questions will be shared with the teachers. ware will be shared online.

He said that the digital transformation initiative will ensure transparency in the examination system as well as speedy compilation of results. Online marking will be partially introduced next year in Part I of Higher Secondary Education Board. In the next phase, the pilot project will be conducted next year if the experiment is successful then complete digitization will be done, e-marking paper checking process will be transparent and its results will be more reliable and accurate than physical checking.

Chairman Higher Secondary Education Board further said that E-marking is a form of assessment, usually a teacher is given 56, 60 copies to take home and check with the possibility of error. All pages are scanned by cutting the spine and each page will be bar coded, cropping of the pages will be given to the panel of teachers. ware will be shared online.

Dr. Saeeduddin said that the special thing is that the question that comes in the exam copy is accompanied by question rubrics in which all the important points of the question asked are written if the child has covered all these points in his answer. If written, of course the child should get full marks, so in e-marking, children get more marks, there will be a head examiner above 8 to 10 teachers who will be checking online that 8 marks should be given and the child If the teacher has given 5 marks, he will ask why the child has been given less marks, on which the teacher can recheck the copy at the same time. .

Dr. Saeeduddin said that the Department of Universities and Boards has no objection regarding e-marking and we have already taken its approval and it will be implemented soon. Digital paper evaluation is more accurate, reliable than manual. Will be. Teachers will mark the papers online at home instead of going to the board premises. We will first conduct a pilot project and evaluate the results, after which we will decide to move the paper marking to digital form, e-marking process is also cheaper. As teachers will no longer need to go to schools and colleges for marking papers, teachers will be able to check papers anytime anywhere.
