Karachi: Provincial Women Development Minister Syeda Shehla Raza has said in a press conference along with the parents of kidnapped Umm Habiba and Sahargul that organized groups are taking young girls from Sindh to Punjab and KP because there are no laws like Sindh. They marry them immediately and keep them and torture them.

He said that through the girls, they demand money from their parents and even threaten them by making phone calls from abroad, while the police seems unable to recover them.

Shehla Raza said that in such cases, due to the late reporting of the incident by Tiruuddin or the slowness and poor investigation of the police, the matter leads to forced early marriage or the girls disappear altogether, which is a very dangerous aspect. . In the press conference, the mother of the two girls also informed the journalists about the details of the incidents while Advocate Altaf Khoso also briefed the journalists.

Syeda Shehla Raza further said that this is not the first incident. In the incidents that have happened before, Puri Puri females regularly come from Punjab or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and young girls easily cross the border of Sindh by various means. According to the laws of Sindh, a girl cannot get married before reaching the age of 18 years, but due to the absence of such laws in Punjab and KP, they are transferred there and staged a marriage drama for which everyone from the Qazi to the witnesses. Preparations are done in advance.

Syeda Shehla Raza added that according to the mother of 12-year-old Sahar Gul, friendship was increased with Sahar Gul through a mobile game and then she was asked to take drugs, which she did, and while leaving home, she took home papers, jewelry. And she also took forty thousand rupees which is missing since January, calls are being made from Sahar Gul to her mother on the phone and the money is also being demanded, Sahar’s mother also sent the money but she has not returned yet.

Parents should report the incident to 1094 number

The Provincial Minister for Women’s Development says that parents should immediately report any incidents that happen to their girls to the helpline number 1094 of the Sindh Women’s Development Department so that the girls can be recovered quickly through timely measures. .

MARI Helpline number 1094 is functioning round the clock on which women can register incidents related to domestic violence and related incidents.

Umm Habiba was first asked for a relationship through telephone, then she disappeared from home

The Provincial Women Development Minister said that such a case is also of 13-year-old Umm Habiba. First, through various telephone calls, the girl’s relationship was sought, but the mother refused the relationship due to the girl’s young age, after which more calls were made from a new number. The right boy tried and after refusal the result was that one day the girl was missing from her house in the morning when the parents searched and unsuccessfully contacted the same phone number, they were told that the girl was at Sohrab Goth.

The parents went there to search and searched every passing passenger bus but the girl was not found and then they were told that the girl was in Pindi on which the parents searched Pindi while she was kept in Lahore.

Sayeda Shahlarza said that now a video of torture has been sent to the girl, that the girl is married to a Hafiz of the Quran, who is now making and sending videos of torture on the girl under the pretext of removing jinn.

He said that Punjab Police or Sindh Police or KP Police are showing disinterest in such cases, even the parents are being pressured not to register the cases. No need to come to Karachi to register the case.

As a provincial minister, after I put pressure on the IG, the case was registered. Regarding the girl, I have also spoken to the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, on which he has assured his cooperation.
