Lahore / Karachi: The price of sugar continues to rise across the country.
It is being sold at 110 to 120 rupees in Lahore, 135 rupees in Faisalabad, 130 rupees in Karachi, Quetta and 125 rupees in Peshawar. Further investigations into the smuggling of expensive sugar and Afghanistan were launched. The Kane Commissioner sought details from the sugar mills. It will be investigated which mill owners and dealers are involved in smuggling?
It should be noted that till now 4 lakh tons of sugar has gone to Afghanistan where it is being sold at Rs 200 per kg while here it is being sold at Rs 130 per kg. By increasing the price by 25 rupees per kg, the mill owners benefited by 115 billion rupees, this money came out of the pockets of the public.
Meanwhile, the border forces also failed to stop the smuggling, before which millions of tons of flour and rice have gone to Afghanistan. Smuggling to Afghanistan is said to be the cause of price increase and shortage of flour, rice and sugar in Pakistan.
