Police teams on patrolling duties across the city were stopped from conducting raids at any place after a youth was killed in the firing of security force policemen during a raid in Zia Colony area of Pir Wadhai police station.
CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Mahmood Hamdani sent a letter to the heads of all departments including field police officers. The letter has also been sent to the in-charges of Elite Force, Dolphin Force, Hafiz Force and Tag Teams including SSP Operation, SSP Investigation, SP Headquarters, Divisional SPs, SDPOs and SHOs.
In the post, strict instructions have been given that in future police station mobile vans officers, elite, dolphin teams, security squads, tag teams, eagle squads will not directly raid any place on their own. If it is urgent to act on the information or conduct a raid at any place, the whole matter will be immediately brought to the notice of the concerned police station SHOs. The SHO concerned will personally lead the raiding team and execute the operation by ensuring all security SOPs.
The letter further states that in-charges of police stations will also not conduct raids anywhere without the knowledge or permission of the SHOs while the SHOs will ensure that no one is detained illegally in the custody of the police station. will No officer below the level of Sub-Inspector or ASI will be posted on patrol duty.
Similarly, officers posted on patrol will ensure packing. The concerned SHO will be bound to report any information to the Divisional SP and Circle Officer himself before the raid.
CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani has asked all officers and forces to ensure strict implementation of the instructions and has warned that negligence and negligence during duty and violation of SOPs will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
